Description

Growing organic vegetables outdoors
The leaflet „Growing organic vegetables outdoors” (in Bulgarian) describes the two years’ experience of Bioselena Foundation in collaboration with experts from the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture FiBL (Frick, Switzerland) with the production of 10 types of vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, beans, green beans, zucchini, peppers, egg plant, onions, carrots) on 2.5 hectares of open fields on the farm of Ivan Chonlov in the village of Kliment, in Karlovo municipality, Bulgaria.
In the leaflet readers will find useful information about the full process of growing organic vegetables – from the preparation of the plots, production of seedlings, fertilizing, harvesting the crops, storage and selling the products. The focus is on the management of the diseases, pests and weeds. Quantities of harvested vegetables, the output sold and sales channels are described in detail. The production process and the publication of the leaflet was co-financed by the Catholic Eparchy of Wädenswil (Switzerland) under the project „HOPE – setting up a demonstration farm for organic vegetables”.
The leaflet is designed for anyone intending to grow organic vegetables.
